I came across this when I was going thorugh some notes...I had forgotten about it...It's from these herbal classes I did. Keep in mind it does not take the place of proper vet care, but it may be interesting
Colic, Bloat and Flatulence
Flatulence (trapped gas) is usually caused by colic, which is pain and inflammation of the intestines. Combine both and it can lead to the life threatening condition of bloat in dogs and send horses into panic resulting in a twisting of the gut also a life threatening situation. Herbal remedies will not provide relief quickly enough to reverse this dangerous condition, so contact your veterinarian immediately. Once the accute moment has passed it is imperative that the underlying causes for the occurrence be identified so that you can find a permanent diet and herbal remedy for this situation. To aid in the reduction of gas build up Fennel, Dill, Catnip, Peppermint and Chamomile are all effective in accomplishing this. To reduce inflammation within the system feed Plantain, Marshmallow, Raspberry, Goldenseal or Nettle. For parasitic related colic combine Licorice, Goldenseal, Echinacea and Oregon Grape to fight off the microbes while speeding up the healing process.
Colic Remedy - Combine the following ingredients in dried herb form: 1 part Plantain, 1 part Peppermint, and 1 part Chamomile. For dogs make an infusion and feed at the rate of 2 tablespoons two times per day until symptoms have been resolved. DO NOT feed this remedy for more than 2 weeks and aim to identify the underlying cause, adjust the diet and work with an herbalist to find a long-term herbal remedy solution.
To make an infusion or tea remedy boil 250 mL of water for 1 - 3 mintues then pour over 75 grams of fresh or 30 grams of dried herbs and let steep for 10 minutes. Cool, do not strain and administer to the animal using a syringe or dropper. Store any left over in a dark coloured glass jar in the refridgerator for upto 3 days. Teas can be fed at a rate of 5 mL per 10 kg of body weight.
