I will say never, never in the USA will ear/tail cropping be banned. If it is not done by a vet it will be done by an experienced breeder and no law will be enforced even if it was banned, that would be a joke. There are plenty of people out there who do a great job already. I have known some of the best that are not vets and have been at it for generations. Do you think all of those Italian breeders in the foot hills of Italy take their dogs to vets, don't kid yourself. You do not have to be a vet to get anesthetics and you do not have to be a vet to know how to use them properly. Remember, vets did not create this practice, breeders did. I stand by docking/cropping on the Neapolitan as it preserves the visual characteristics of the breed. They have been docked and cropped from the beginning and that is the correct historical look. Some think it is cruel and they are perfectly entitled to their beliefs. I respect that. With that said, respect us. For those who criticise you for having your dogs ears and tails done, ask them if their son is circumsized or if their daughters ears are pierced. My boy "Santino" Love the athletic Italian Bulldogs of the past. Happy to see many healthy examples here on this site.
Learn to dock & remove rear dewclaws yourself ....As Kat said ONLY go to vets that do crops & REMOVE cherry-eye . When you inqurie about these things & the vet says no ...TELL them you are going to take your money elsewere......Make sure to scream to high heaven on any & all message boards you belong to ...When the vets with the soccer-mom social eutopiaian engineer mentality start catching flak MAYBE they will change their tune !!!.....KNOW WHERE YOUR GOING .......REMEMBER WHERE YOU BEEN Jaboa

Romans apparently were first to practice cropping as a preventative measure. Injuries from dog fights lead to infections that would more often kill the animal. Lamarks theories of acquired characteristics lead to the practice becoming widespread lmao. No shows or standards, the dogs were working animals or not kept for want of better term. If historical authenticity is the argument for embracing the procedure then…….oh, maybe you are in your toga
Kilt's maybe, Togas, no, they are so damn hard to keep clean! Jonathan 'Jax' Johnson Lady of the Lake Kennel ..................let loose the hounds of hell and enemy prepare to die!
This goes to Ronnie , the ear set on the Mastino has changed in the last 20yrs . Without cropping the " ENHANCED " lines of Mastino & their outside blood is more evident ...I personally prefer a cropped & docked dog.....Whats your take ???? Jaboa
I thought you wore a tutu. LOL If i wanted to breed dogs without cropped ears I would have bred bull mastiffs. The look is what attracted me...I have personally seen diFalco crop without anesthetics .... Ciao

I prefer cropping for the look but that is not a valid argument or any in previous posts to maintain this practice.
Hey a natural look to me is not appealing to me. Crop and docking of the breed has been done for some time now. Why the change? Because it hurts them? They need to communicate? Or people are more kind and sweet hearted? It is a matter of looks for me and it is how it is suppose to be. If I want ears and a tail I would have got a English Mastiff.
