The Petland near me has NO pets from shelters. All "designer dogs" and typical petstore pups (pugs, shih tzus, min pins, JRT, GSD, Labs, GR, etc) last time I went in to just look at the place they had 40 puppies there and of course it was Xmas time. They also keep tanks with about 8in deep of feeder/pet rats(LARGE). This chain has come and gone around here since i was little. They close and come back 6 years later relocated. Then they close after a year or so. But in my area they are just like a mall pet store, just not attached to a mall.
The "Vick Dogs" are located at the Best Friends Sanctuary (i think thats what its called) out west. maybe Arizona-ish. My friend went out there to volunteer and they have an area that they are keeping the Vick dogs ...waaay in the back. They still are evaluating some of the dogs but they dont let anyone see them...even the volunteers. I dont give money to the HSUS. Never have and probably never will.
