Anna- do a culture and sensitivity with MIC to find the appropriate Abx for a UTI then keep her on a longer course. The infections often reoccur but, yes, dogs usually grow out of vaginitis after their first heat. Do not use baytril it can be dangerous to growing pups.
Also... Herpes in dogs is not an STD per se, and that virus is not really my first thought when I think about uti's.
When we had patients in the hospital with UTI's the nutritionists would include yogurt on the trays. I also had the docs here (in the boondocks) tell me to give our girl yogurt for the natural flora bacteria. The nutrition books that I have from nursing also suggest adding eggs to the diet for the protein. JMO from nursing people. MaryAnn

The urinalysis showed no white cells, and no bacteria BUT still red cells and epithelial cells which is leading my vet to believe that it could be one of 3 things: 1. cancer/tumor 2. crystals/bladder stones 3. that she is physically put together wrong
ALL 3 of these affect her showing ability and breeding ability but perhaps most importantly implicate that she could spend her entire life dealing with painful urination.
I need some advice, pronto because I'm just shy of freaking out (holding it together for the sake of my finals next week. I don't have the luxury of being able to flip out right now) How common are these things in 4 month old dogs?!? Is it possible she just has recurrent UTI's? Luciano said that Rosamunda went through a batch of infections when she was younger (something I wish I had known from the get-go, or at least when I first found out) -- is something like that genetic?

Anna...Keep her on the meds until next week at least...Then you know she's covered from picking up any additional infections, etc.
Is her energy good? Is she eating well? Can she poo and pee? If these things are going well...Then don't freak out Poe is doing well and can make it another week.
I would be totally dumb founded if she had cancer. So...
What are you feeding her? Crystals in the bladder (and stone formation) can be altered greatly with the proper diet. The vets tend to give a food low in protein, not really something I like to do, especially with a growing pup...There are other alternatives.
How has the urine been collected?
Just to let you know...Sheena had the same findings...RBC occasional and epithelial occasional...Her tests didn't clear up until I did the vulvaplasty. I think it went on for 1 year? I am not saying this is what you should do with Poe...But don't sweat it, it's not the end of the world

She's on %$£&^* Van Patten's Duck and sweet potato. . . VERY low protein (21%) because I had her on EVO red meat and it was too much, I was having to make her instant potatoes and pasta as a filler.
Now with the DVP she gets supplemental meat to help with her amino acid profile with the lower protein (we live right off campus which has a fully functioning slaughter plan attached to where I take classes, so it's super cheap and as fresh as it gets) "Mais tu ne dois pas l’oublier. If she is having a hard time with meats...Have you considered fish? You can get the dog the protein it needs, but the fish protein tends to be far easily digested...Not to mention the oils, etc. from fish do wonders for the skin and coat.
If her symptoms do come back...yep...another urinalysis and culture it would be...and the x-ray would show stones, or other adnormalities...

No no, she LOVED the Evo. . . but the protein percentages were too high for her (42%) so I switched her. She's a piggy she loves all food, all the time! haha.
